PRIVATE TRAINING
We Don’t Start With a Workout. We Start With You.
Private training at Grassroots isn’t built from a generic template.
Before we design your program, we want to understand how you move, your strengths and limitations, your injury and training history, your body composition, your goals, and what you want your body to be capable of.
That’s why private training begins with an assessment.
What we learn becomes the foundation for a comprehensive, individualized training program built specifically for you—one that continues to evolve as you get stronger, your needs change, and your goals progress.
EVERY ADULT ASSESSMENT IS DONE BY HEATHER
Every Adult Private Training Assessment at Grassroots is personally conducted by Heather Gunn-Rivera, co-owner of Grassroots Fitness Project and founder of Women’s Strength.
I personally conduct every adult assessment because I want to meet each new private training client who walks through our doors.
I want to understand your goals, your history, how you move, what you’re looking for from your training, and what kind of coaching environment will help you thrive.
It also allows me to do something I believe is incredibly important: match you with the trainer I believe is the best fit for you.
The right coach isn’t simply the person who happens to have an opening in their schedule. I consider your goals, personality, training needs, experience, schedule, and the individual strengths of our coaches when making that match.
Your assessment gives us the information we need to begin building your individualized program—and gives me the opportunity to make sure you begin your Grassroots journey with the right coach.
ADULT PRIVATE TRAINING ASSESSMENT
$225
Our Adult Private Training Assessment is a comprehensive starting point designed to give us a full picture of you before your training begins.
Your Assessment Includes
✅ Movement and strength assessment
✅ Medical and injury history review
✅ InBody body composition scan and detailed analysis
✅ Discussion of your goals, training history, lifestyle, and current activity
✅ Identification of strengths, limitations, and areas we want to develop
✅ Personalized training recommendations
Most importantly, we bring all of this information together to begin building a comprehensive, individualized training program—not a generic program that could be given to anyone.
Your assessment may also reveal that another Grassroots offering—or a combination of services—would better support your goals. That might include Private Training, Partner Training, Women’s Strength, or Strength & Conditioning.
The goal isn’t to sell you a particular service. It’s to determine the training approach that will actually serve you best.
MORE THAN AN INBODY SCAN
Your Adult Assessment includes an InBody body composition scan—but the scan itself is only the beginning.
Numbers on a report aren’t particularly useful if you don’t understand what they mean.
I have extensive experience analyzing and interpreting InBody results and helping people understand what their individual data tells us. I’ve spent years working with these scans, and physicians and other professionals have come to me for help understanding and interpreting InBody results.
During your assessment, I’ll walk you through your results and explain the information that’s relevant to you, which may include:
✅ Skeletal muscle mass
✅ Body fat and body fat percentage
✅ Muscle distribution and balance
✅ Visceral fat
✅ Segmental lean analysis
✅ Other relevant body composition measurements
But I don’t look at your InBody results in isolation.
I combine what we learn from the scan with how you move, your strength, health and injury history, training experience, lifestyle, and goals.
That allows us to move beyond:
“Here are your numbers.”
and answer the much more useful question:
“What does this mean for how you should train?”
Your results also give us useful baseline information that we can revisit over time to help evaluate progress and inform your training.
PARTNER ASSESSMENT
$300 for two people
Want to train with a spouse, partner, family member, or friend?
Training together doesn’t mean the two of you necessarily need exactly the same things.
During your Partner Assessment, we look at each person individually—how you move, your training and injury histories, your goals, and your individual strengths and needs.
That gives us the information we need to create programming that works for both of you while still accounting for your individual differences.
Your Partner Assessment Includes
✅ Movement and strength assessment for each person
✅ Medical and injury history review
✅ InBody body composition scan and analysis
✅ Discussion of individual and shared goals
✅ Personalized recommendations for training together
YOUTH ASSESSMENT
45 minutes | $99
Our Youth Assessment is different from our comprehensive Adult Assessment.
It’s a focused, age-appropriate 45-minute evaluation designed to help us understand how your child moves and determine the right training path for them.
During the assessment, we’ll look at:
✅ Movement quality
✅ Strength
✅ Coordination and body awareness
✅ Training and athletic experience
✅ Goals and interests
✅ Readiness for age-appropriate strength training
Youth Assessments do not include an InBody body composition scan.
For a young person beginning private training, what we learn during the assessment helps us create individualized, age-appropriate programming based on their abilities, experience, and goals.
The assessment also helps us determine whether your child is best suited for private training, Youth Strength & Conditioning, or a combination of the two.
PRIVATE TRAINING AT GRASSROOTS
Private training isn’t about having someone stand next to you and count your reps.
It’s a relationship between you and your coach, supported by a training program built specifically around you.
Our private training includes:
✅ Individualized programming based on your assessment
✅ One-on-one coaching and attention
✅ 30-, 45-, and 60-minute training options
✅ Training designed around your goals, abilities, experience, and history
✅ A focus on strength, movement quality, resilience, and long-term health
✅ Thoughtful progression as you become stronger and more capable
✅ Ongoing program adjustments as your body, needs, and goals change
Your assessment gives us the starting point. From there, your coach continues to observe, coach, adjust, and progress your program throughout your time at Grassroots.
PRIVATE TRAINING MEMBERSHIP

Priority Waitlist Placement
Private Training Members receive priority placement on class waitlists when spots become available.
Complimentary InBody Scans
Private Training Members receive complimentary InBody scans, giving us another way to track changes and progress throughout your training.
TRAINING THAT EVOLVES WITH YOU
Your goals won’t always stay the same—and neither should your training.
You may come to us wanting to get stronger, return to training after an injury, prepare for a sport, support your bone health, navigate changes as you age, or simply feel better and more capable in your body.
And what you need six months from now may be completely different from what you need today.
That’s why your program isn’t something we write once and repeat indefinitely.
Your coach continually pays attention to how you move, how you’re responding to training, where you’re progressing, and where your program needs to change.
Your training evolves as you do.
MORE THAN A WORKOUT
At Grassroots, we’re not interested in simply giving you a workout.
We want to understand where you are now, where you want to go, and what you want your body to be able to do.
Your assessment gives us the foundation to build a program specifically for you. It also gives me the opportunity to meet you personally, understand what you need, and connect you with the Grassroots coach I believe will be the best fit.
Then we build from there.
The goal is a body that is stronger, more capable, more resilient, and better prepared for whatever life asks of it.
